Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was a Philadelphia native is a native of Philadelphia, and was raised there. Her mother Pam is a former backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. As a child, her father was appointed as one of the cities' Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. Their family eventually moved into the mansion's historical building. In 2005, a Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduates, she is a major in the area of vocal. Sullivan sang as a contralto for the choir for children and later in the years later, she was a singer as an adult in the choir. Sullivan did not get exposed to secular music until he was a teenager. "I started singing as a soloist in churches, and one of my friends asked me to commit to record a gospel song when I turned 11. But I wasn't ready for it," she says. In the following year, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I had the opportunity to perform "Accept what God allows" in it's Showtime at the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. The singer performed along with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday celebration at thirteen. Sullivan was 15 when she, was first signed to Jive Records. In Jive Records, she made an entire album. However, the album wasn't released. Sullivan was eventually dropped from the label. There was a close relationship with Missy Elliott and produced some of the songs in her debut album like the huge hit track "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
